Derbyshire housebuilder targets 380 homes as new development gets underway
Woodall Homes has begun work on a new residential development in Nottinghamshire, marking its seventh scheme in three years as the Derbyshire housebuilder continues to expand its portfolio across the East Midlands.
The BGF-backed developer has started construction at The Old Farmstead in Bulcote, where it will deliver 65 homes comprising 41 new-build properties and the conversion of a former Grade II listed farmhouse into 24 homes.
The project will retain the historic character of the listed building while incorporating contemporary design, forming part of Woodall Homes’ wider growth strategy as it increases housing delivery across the region.
The latest development follows a period of rapid expansion for the business, which expects to deliver almost 200 homes across its active sites over the next two years.
Once completed, the company’s developments launched since 2024 will total around 380 homes.
Current schemes include Oakham Grange and Churchfields in Calow, Chesterfield, alongside the 161-home Appleton View development in Bolsover.
David Wood, managing director of Woodall Homes, said: “In the last two years, we have laid down strong foundations that not only meet our own aims as a business, but wider Government aspirations to build 1.5 million new homes, unlocking critical infrastructure that will underpin economic growth.
“We’re proud of the developments we have delivered to date and have every confidence that The Old Farmstead will prove to be equally as popular in what is a highly sought-after location on the outskirts of Nottingham.”
Founded in 2011, Woodall Homes has developed residential schemes across the East Midlands, with a focus on premium housing, sustainable construction and developments designed to complement their local surroundings.
The company secured a £4.25m investment from growth capital investor BGF in 2021, supporting its long-term expansion plans.
Aaron Baker, investor at BGF and board member of Woodall Group said: “It’s been another hugely successful year for Woodall – one that is defined by high-quality, carefully designed homes that have become the hallmark of a housebuilder committed to bringing exciting developments to market such as The Old Farmstead.
“The combination of heritage and contemporary design and construction will make this site hugely appealing to buyers in and outside of the region.”
