TheBusinessDesk.com is delighted to welcome three of the most dynamic female entrepreneurs in the Midlands to our forthcoming Women in Business event.

Elizabeth Gooch is the award-winning founder and former CEO of UK tech company, EGS, where she invented a software product and pioneered a new technology market. The company was listed on the Alternative Investment Market (AIM) and was later acquired by a major US software company in 2017.

Following the acquisition of EGS, Elizabeth now works with founders of UK tech startups and scaleups – including Nottingham-based The Robot Exchange – to help them grow and scale their businesses.

She is an angel investor, non-executive director and Mentor to tech companies in a wide range of sectors including secure messaging, cyber security, artificial intelligence, robotic process automation and e-commerce.

Elizabeth was named as one of The Telegraph’s ‘Most Disruptive Entrepreneurs’. She was made MBE in the Queen’s jubilee birthday honours in 2012.

Having built an extensive career in corporate environments as a strategist and lobbyist, Natalie Gasson-McKinley has been instrumental in driving positive change in local and regional economies. Her role as development manager at the Federation of Small Businesses, places her firmly in a position to champion small businesses. Natalie is chair of Obu Invest and a Trustee at Nottingham Playhouse. She was awarded an MBE in the New Years’ Honours 2023 List, for services to businesses in the East Midlands.

Laura Clarke, director of manufacturer Chilwell Products, also joins us to chat about her career, company and what challenges and opportunities she faces as a woman running a business.

Laura stepped into the role of director in 2019, making the family business Chilwell Products a 3rd generation company. She’s a MSci graduate of Physics with a love for continual improvement and innovation in all areas. Her compassionate and unique approach to running the business is advancing the company leaps and bounds.

Investment in new machinery and employee workflow has helped to transform the landscape of the company into a 4-day working week. All members of the team are now working 5 hours less each week, whilst still receiving the same annual pay and performing above and beyond.

Tickets include a welcome drink, tapas lunch and unrivalled networking opportunities.
