On the move: the latest East Midlands hires

Jane Cowley

Law firm Gateley has appointed Jane Cowley as a partner within the Private Client and Family team in Leicester.

Cowley, previously a partner and head of family law and the East Midlands private client group at Howes Percival in Leicester, has joined Gateley to establish a new family law practice in the city.

Prior to Howes Percival, Cowley was a partner and head of family law and private client at Harvey Ingram LLP in Leicester.

Cowley specialises in complex financial settlements, pre-nuptial arrangements, collaborative agreements and business/shareholders disputes, and is recognised nationally in the Register of Legal Experts.

As well as this, Cowley is a board member at Leicestershire Business Voice and a member of the Legal Advisory Board at De Monfort University. She was recently named as one of the UK’s top 100 Lawyers by the Lawyer Magazine in recognition of her achievements in family law.

Gareth John, head of Gateley’s Leicester office, said: “I have known Jane for a number of years and been aware of her reputation as one of Leicestershire’s leading lawyers. Jane’s appointment sees us expanding on Gateley’s Private Client and Family offering in the East Midlands and I am delighted to welcome her on board.”

Professional services firm KPMG has appointed Paul Jackson as an indirect tax director within its Midlands practice.

Based in Nottingham, Jackson joins the firm from PwC, where his role as an indirect tax director saw him lead the delivery of VAT advisory services to a wide range of corporate clients across the East and West Midlands.

At KPMG, Jackson will have a particular focus on growing the VAT practice in the East Midlands and building a team around him. He will also spend time in the Birmingham office to help build on the growth of the firm’s VAT advisory practice in the West Midlands.
