The Same Sky – A Musical
After a successful run in 2016, The Same Sky returns to the Guildhall Theatre in Derby this weekend. The musical is a story of love, loss and reconciliation set in the Nottinghamshire coalfields in WW1. The story follows Billy and Eileen, whose love is forced apart by the Great War, will their love survive it?

An afternoon with Gurinder Chadha
Broadway in Nottingham is hosting afternoon with acclaimed director Gurinder Chadha on Saturday afternoon. Gurinder, who is behind successful films including Bend It Like Beckham and Bride and Prejudice, will be in conversation with Broadway’s Programme Director Caroline Hennigan following a screening of her new film Viceroy’s House, which stars Hugh Bonneville and Gillian Anderson.

What the Butler Saw
50 years since the death of celebrated Leicester playwright Joe Orton, the Curve Theatre in Leicester is paying tribute. What the Butler Saw will be brought to the stage this weekend which was Orton’s final play, completed just a month before his death. Starring Rufus Hound, the show is set to have you laughing from start to finish.

David Starkey – Britain’s Role in Europe
British historian and presenter David Starkey will take to the stage at The Palace Theatre in Newark on Sunday afternoon for a discussion about Britain’s role in Europe. He will consider the arguments and ranges from Henry VIII, European culture, the modern theorists of the Anglosphere and right through to last year’s referendum.
