On the move: the latest East Midlands hires

Paul Stubbs

Law firm Edward Hands and Lewis has strengthened its growing team with three new senior appointments, including the promotion of solicitor and director Paul Stubbs to managing partner.

Since October Stubbs has overseen the firm’s acquisition of Nottinghamshire law firm Sheltons solicitors, who join the Group with three offices and 30 staff.

In addition to Stubbs’ promotion, Stuart Southall, formerly an associate in the commercial dispute resolution team

Ella Snowden

has been promoted to director, while property lawyer Ella Snowdon is now branch partner of the Hinckley office.

Stubbs said: “The role will allow me to advance elements of the firm’s business plan from inception to conclusion. “I get to see EHL’s business matters through from start to finish, which is helpful for continuity of management decisions.

“There are a number of challenges that come with the change in role, but I’m enjoying them.

“It’s easy in business to focus only on the immediate client experience, but our focus is on having an excellent client experience delivered by having the correct team of staff, who are properly engaged, trained and motivated. We find that a great client experience is a natural by-product of having a great environment within which our staff can work and grow.”

“As a firm we’ve been through periods of extensive growth in office staff and client numbers. We now look forward to a period of consolidation in 2018 and 2019, and, whatever Brexit has in store, people will still need access to good legal services.”

Develop Training Limited (DTL) has added to its management team with two new appointments, based in its Derby Headquarters.

Nichola Kitching

Nichola Kitching joins DTL as business development manager, bringing with her more than ten years’ experience in the welfare-to-work and education sectors, most recently specialising in apprenticeships and work-based learning in roles covering sales, account management and operations.

Marisa Harris has been appointed Skills Funding Agency (SFA) administration manager, drawing upon several years’ experience of working for a training provider managing SFA funding and administration with a detailed understanding of funding rules, the Individual Learner Record and compliance relating to apprenticeships.

Chris Wood, chief executive of DTL, said: “We are delighted to welcome Nichola and Marisa to the team. They join us

Marisa Harris

at an exciting time for our business, as we continue to grow following our listing on the SFA’s register of apprenticeship training providers (RoATP). Our inclusion in the register underlines the quality of our apprenticeship programmes and our ability to deliver training of the very highest level for large organisations in critical infrastructure sectors. We are now in a very strong position to help employers utilise their Apprenticeship Levy payments and to deliver the training that meets both their needs and the wider needs of the country.”
