Lace Market residential scheme recommended for go-ahead

A 117-apartment scheme in Nottingham’s Lace Market area is set to take a step closer next week.

Nottingham City Council’s Planning Committee will meet next week and recommend that planning permission is given to the residential scheme.

The scheme, which will be developed by Abode Nottigham, around Trivett Square will see 10 Short Hill and 56 High Pavement be developed into flats designed by local firm Maber.

The scheme involves the creation of 117 apartments; 8 studios, 43 one bed units and 66 two bed units. The apartments would be provided over seven floors (including a basement level) and across five buildings (54 and 56 High Pavement, a new building between 56 High Pavement and 9 Short Hill, 9 Short Hill and a new building along Malin Hill).

The buildings have been used as office space.

The Planning Committee has recommended the scheme be granted planning permission despite objections along the way from The Civic Society, Historic England and the Victorian Society.

Last September, Nottingham City Council gave the green light to a ten-storey apartment block adjacent to the proposed Trivett Square development.

The scheme, by Monk Estates, will include 85 apartments as well as a gym, retail space, meeting rooms and communal gardens.

The firm says it is aiming the scheme at young professionals.
