Lincs firm to develop multimillion pound specialist school

Lincolnshire care services group United Health has acquired Oak Farm Park in Bagworth, Leicestershire to build a specialist school, following a loan from HSBC.

United Health will use the funding to convert the property into a school for children with special educational needs. The development is expected to be a multimillion pound project and will include residential facilities for students as well as a suite of classrooms, technical workshops, an IT centre and sport and recreation areas. The acquisition is part of the company’s wider programme aiming to develop specialist education centres for children across the UK.

Philip Pearson, chairman of United Health, said: “HSBC’s support has enabled us to drive forward our plans to expand services across the East Midlands. There is a real need in the region for specialist schools for those students that are unable to thrive in a mainstream school environment. This new school provides a much needed resource for students who require specialist support, with specially trained teachers and support staff.”

Roger Pratt, area director for corporate banking at HSBC in the East Midlands, added: “We’re thrilled to support British businesses like United Health, helping drive the expansion of their service offering for the local community. The business has a strong plan for the future and we look forward to working with them as they make this a reality.”

Based in Lincoln, United Health has provided specialised care services across the East Midlands for over 15 years. This includes care homes for the elderly and dedicated services for those with learning and physical disabilities as well as child care for those with emotional and behavioural difficulties.

The funding was arranged by HSBC Corporate Banking relationship director, Philip Carr.
