£2m expansion for Nottinghamshire golf resort

The Residence, the boutique hotel set within the grounds of the Nottinghamshire Golf and Country Club, is set to unveil its expansion this week – increasing the number of rooms from 18 to 30 as part of a major £2m expansion of the hotel and clubhouse.

The hotel and golfing complex is owned by Alan Hardy, chief executive and chairman of Paragon Interiors Group and Notts County Football Club, among many other local businesses. The project was delivered on a fast-track basis by Paragon to ensure it captured the wedding and summer season.

Hardy said: “Phase 1 of The Residence Hotel has been a huge success, with occupancy up to 90% over the first 12 months. There’s been great demand from all different kinds of visitors to the area and as a result we’re now spending £2m on the second phase of the expansion which will also include a major upgrade of the clubhouse.”

For the golfers there are two new putting greens being laid in a new location in front of the clubhouse which are over a third bigger than the original one which has been dug up to make way for a much needed car park facility.

There is also a new first tee complex which will act as the stage for golfers to start their round on the ‘Championship’ course playing a par four hole that is being developed to be one of the most challenging holes on the 36 hole complex.

Hardy added: “We are making improvements right across the complex for members, visitors and guests. Inside the clubhouse, the existing pro shop is being relocated to the courtyard to make way for a stunning new 60 seater luxury lounge where members and visitors can sit and relax in the best quality furnishings you will find in the Midlands.

“Our stunning glass terrace and the patio are also being extended and turned into a beautiful wooden deck which will really make the Nottinghamshire a destination to come to for many more reasons than just to play golf. The new pro shop will be merchandised with all the latest garments and equipment you could hope to find and the locker rooms are not being left out as they too are getting a facelift.”
