Profits drop at clothing manufacturer after ‘significant’ investment

Profits at David Nieper, the Derbyshire fashionwear manufacturer, have fallen to less than £1m after the company invested heavily in infrastructure.

The company made a profit of £925,398 for the year ending 31 March, down from £2.64m in 2017. Revenues rose slightly from £16.75m to almost £17m over the same period.

David Nieper said it has made “significant” investment into ecommerce and automated machinery and a move away from nightwear into more general women’s fashion.

The company employed 269 people at the end of March this year.
