Leicester bar to rebrand and extend opening hours

The Head of Steam bar on Market Street in Leicester city centre is getting a makeover and will reopen as Sanctuary – a brand new bar concept for the city.

The new bar will have a 4x4m screen showing live sport throughout the week. The opening hours will also be extended until 2am on weekends.

The Head of Steam bar will close for four days on Sunday 24 February, while the refurbishment is underway, ahead of the official launch party on Friday 1 March.

David Scott, head of managed estate at Cameron’s Brewery, which owns both the Sanctuary and Head of Steam brands, said: “We are excited to be adapting the Head of Steam venue in Leicester. We felt that Leicester’s love of sport was something we wanted to embrace – and what better place to watch the city’s sports teams than on our giant screen.

“Leicester is a brilliant city and has a bustling night time economy, and we want the Sanctuary bar to be a part of this. I’m confident we will have the biggest screen for live sport in the city, as well as good and affordable food and drink – it will be the place to be.”
