Council set to name new chief executive

Charnwood Borough Council is set to debate the appointments of a new chief executive at a special meeting on Monday, July 29.
Current chief executive Geoff Parker is retiring and following a recruitment process, the Council is proposing the role is taken up by Rob Mitchell, currently chief executive officer at Ashfield District Council in Nottinghamshire.
The appointment must be approved at a special meeting of Charnwood Borough Council which will take place on Monday, July 29.
Cllr Jonathan Morgan, Leader of Charnwood Borough Council, said: “We are delighted to be proposing Rob as our new chief executive. We had an outstanding crop of candidates and the calibre, as you would expect for a role of this magnitude, was outstanding.
“However, Rob shone through the highly-competitive field. He offers a wealth of talent, experience and vision which I am sure will help take this Council forward in a new and exciting direction. I look forward to proposing his appointment to my fellow members.”
