Derby firm reveals work on exclusive supercar

Pentaxia staff with the BAC Mono R

Derby manufacturer Pentaxia has played host to the BAC Mono R at its Alfreton Road site, following after working on the production of recently-launched single-seater supercar.

Briggs Automotive Company (BAC) revealed the Mono R to the world at the 2019 Goodwood Festival of Speed in July.

Pentaxia was the main composite supplier for the Mono R. The car is the first in the world to use graphene-enhanced carbon fibre in every panel.

With a target of the car launch at Goodwood, Pentaxia effectively had 5–6 weeks from final design confirmation to manufacture around 80% of the vehicle ready for the big reveal.

Ian Briggs, BAC co-founder and design director, said: “Launching Mono R was a monumental step in the history of Briggs Automotive Company, and we owe so much of that to the fantastic work of our partners and suppliers. What we’ve achieved alongside Pentaxia is nothing short of revolutionary and we were absolutely delighted to share the incredible finished result with the hugely talented Pentaxia team – more of the same to come!”

The Mono R is one of the most exclusive supercars ever made with only 30 models being produced and already sold to existing Mono owners around the world. Pentaxia will be manufacturing all 30 car sets and supplying parts fully finished and ready for assembly.

Pentaxia managing director Stephen Ollier said: “Our staff were delighted to see the finished product following so much hard work. The car is a world first in many areas and we are proud to have been involved.”
