On the move: the latest East Midlands hires

(L-R): Rebecca Emeleus, Joanne Derbyshire, Joshua Morley and Jasmine Jackson

Nottingham-based law firm Rothera Sharp has appointed three trainee solicitors to bolster its growing ranks.

Jasmine Jackson, Joanne Derbyshire and Joshua Morley will all be commencing their training contracts with the firm this Autumn.

Jackson, who joined Rothera Sharp in June 2019 as a paralegal in the transport department, will be undertaking her first seat in family law at the firm’s Lace Market office in October whilst studying for her LPC and LLM part-time.

Derbyshire will be completing her first seat in personal injury. She joined Rothera Sharp in September 2018 as a receptionist at the firm’s Beeston branch and progressed through the roles of legal secretary and family law legal assistant before starting her training contract this September.

Morley, who will be completing his first seat in commercial property, is currently completing his LLM degree.

The law firm has also developed a Trainee Committee which is led by the firm’s current trainee solicitors Paige Regardsoe, Billy Shaw and Christina Peck to provide support and guidance to its latest recruits.

Rebecca Emeleus, talent and resourcing partner at Rothera Sharp, said: “We are delighted to welcome Joanne, Joshua and Jasmine to the firm. A number of our staff have joined us as trainee solicitors and progressed their career through the firm and we are passionate about nurturing the skills of our staff and providing them with the tools they need to grow.”

Meanwhile, national accountancy and business advisory firm BDO LLP has hired ten trainees who will work across its tax and audit streams in the East Midlands.

Andrew Mair

Andrew Mair, partner at BDO and head of the East Midlands, said: “We’ve had a strong year in the region and we’re keen to build our capabilities across all areas of the business. As well as a number of key lateral hires and promotions to support this growth, our focus is on taking on more apprentices alongside our graduates. This mix of minds – and diversity in every sense – is what our clients need from our teams to be able to solve complex problems and help them succeed.

“One of the most rewarding parts of my role is working with the team on their development. This talent within this latest cohort of trainees shows the future of the firm is in good hands and I look forward to watching each of them progress.”
