On the move: the latest East Midlands hires

(L-R): Antony Stevenson, Jamie Wright, Tom Morley and Mykolas Kaminskas

Derby-based app company Codemakers has appointed three new developers following a successful year for sales.

The development consultancy, based at Friar Gate Studios, provides bespoke web and mobile development services and runs its own subscription software service.

Managing director Antony Stevenson said: “Technology remains a priority area of investment for many organisations and we have benefited from the sustained demand for bespoke business mobile apps and the web services that connect them to other systems and partners, as the trend towards a mobile workforce continues. We now have a team that covers the breadth of expertise required to deliver complex projects and we’re currently producing some incredible apps that punch way beyond the weight of a team our size.”

Two of the new starters are graduates from regional universities whose appointments have been supported by the University of Derby’s DRIVEN scheme, which aims to attract and retain graduate talent in the Derby area.

Elsewhere, Ashby-based fintech lender ThinCats has appointed Rob Kelly as its new senior asset manager.

ACCA accountant Kelly joins the firm from Lloyds Bank, where he specialised in asset-based lending, working with SMEs across the North of England, Wales, the Midlands and East of England.

Damon Walford, chief development officer at ThinCats, added: “We are looking forward to Rob joining the team here at ThinCats. We know he will excel in his role maintaining our client relationships and provide them with support and strategic advice to ensure things always go to plan.”

The company, active since 2011, broke through the £500 million lending mark last month.
