Leicester lawyer launches sports management company
A Leicester lawyer has launched a sports management company that will allow family members and more trusted advisers to act as bona fide agents for their sporting protégés.
S2 Sports Management is the brainchild of Stuart Southall, managing partner of commercial law firm Southall Hathaway & Co.
Southall, who is an approved FA Intermediary, already looks after the legal interests of the Leicester-based British Basketball League and the Leicester Falcons American Football team, and is now looking to bring a fresh approach to the business of sports management.
The firm will provide an “umbrella service” to individuals who would like to assume the role of agent but would prefer not to be tied to an onerous and lengthy contract.
He said: “We’re different because [what we do is] non-contractual and undertaken on a case by case basis – and is all about returning control to the new advisor or player. Working with us also overcomes the issue of legitimacy, which is especially important when dealing with minors as clubs won’t deal with agents or representatives that aren’t FA licensed in some way.”
