Merger sees law firm expand into Yorkshire

Jonathan Goodwin and Martyn Hall

East Midlands law firm Sills & Betteridge has merged with legal practice Bridge Sanderson Munro as it looks to make inroads into South Yorkshire.

The news comes just weeks after the firm acquired Gainsborough’s TrentSide legal to further increase its footprint on home turf.

The merged team will trade as Sills & Betteridge incorporating Bridge Sanderson Munro.

The South Yorkshire firm currently trades out of Hallgate, Doncaster, Bawtry, Thorne and Wath upon Dearne.

Jonathan Goodwin, principal solicitor at Bridge Sanderson Munro, will join Sills & Betteridge as partner in the wills, trusts and probate department.

He said: “We have been serving clients in South Yorkshire for over 80 years and we are really excited to be joining forces with Sills & Betteridge to enable us to offer an even greater range of services across all our offices to existing and new clients for many years to come. All ongoing matters will continue to be handled by the same lawyers and support staff to ensure continuity for all our existing clients.”

Martyn Hall, CEO at Sills & Betteridge, added: “We opened a specialist family law practice in Doncaster 12 months ago with plans to offer, in time, a full range of services across South Yorkshire. We quite quickly recognised that our expansion ambitions would be best achieved by joining forces with another firm in the area. Bridge Sanderson Munro have a strong local presence and share a similar commitment to delivering a service which combines the highest standards of technical expertise and client care, and we are delighted with the collaboration.”

Sills & Betteridge now has 14 offices across Lincolnshire, South Yorkshire and the East Midlands.
