Work begins on £60m logistics facility

How the new facility will look

Europa Worldwide Group has chosen Northamptonshire as the location for its new £60 million logistics facility.

The 715,000 sq ft facility at Midlands Logistics Park in Corby is due for completion in June 2020.

Andrew Baxter, managing director at Europa Worldwide Group, said: “We’re delighted to announce this huge investment in our logistics operation at a time of strong growth at Europa.

“This is the single biggest investment we have ever made since I acquired the business in 2013 and it demonstrates our ambition to strengthen our 3PL operation at a time of huge market growth, particularly for e-commerce logistics.

“Corby is strategically the most impactful location for our new facility given its central location, its fantastic position in relation to major arterial routes and its strong local workforce. There will be a requirement for recruitment at our new facility at Midlands Logistics Park – numbers of which will be confirmed in time – and we know the pool of candidates in the area is very high quality. We look forward to investing further in the local economy as we grow this new site.”

Europa Worldwide Group is an independent road, air and sea, warehouse and showfreight operator. The company already has two significant sites in Northamptonshire at Grange Park and Rushden, where it employs a combined total of 120 staff.

The new development has been agreed with Corby Land and Development, a joint venture between Mulberry Developments and Frogmore.

VolkerFitzpatrick is the main contractor on the project.
