On the move: the latest East Midlands hires

Salloway Property Consultants has added a new graduate surveyor to its Derby team.

Will Speed recently gained an honours degree in planning and property development and will work towards achieving chartered status with the company.

He said: “Spending four years at Oxford Brookes studying planning and property development cemented my interest in property and provided me with a great platform from which to launch my career.

I know the East Midlands well having grown up here and have been fortunate enough to have enjoyed work experience with firms in several sectors.

“My ambition is to be a chartered surveyor within the not so distant future as well as improving my skills and increasing my knowledge on the local property market and is people.”

Steve Salloway, managing director at Salloway Property Consultants, added: “We have known about Will for some time. For such a young man, he already has a wide knowledge of our industry and we believe he will be a major asset to the team.”

Elsewhere in the city, Derby County Ladies Football Club has announced a new Board of directors which includes a number of key figures from the local business scene.

The club’s new governance board includes Nick Britten (chair), managing director of Another Voice and director of corporate communications at Derby County Football Club (DCFC); Faye Nixon (vice chair), head of marketing at DCFC; Sarah Bailey (secretary), corporate solicitor at Geldards; Claire Twells, business development partner and head of debt recovery at Smith Partnership; Stephen Pearce, CEO at DCFC; Lauren Asquith, club development and disability manager at Derby County Community Trust and England U21 coach and former DCFC player Michael Johnson.

Nick Britten said: “This is an extremely exciting time for Ewe Rams as we seek to move onto the next level. We are building on some already excellent, nationally-recognised work, and the expertise all members of the Board bring will help enable the club to thrive, grow and remain sustainable in the long term, providing support across all aspects of the club’s organisation.

“It also helps strengthen the link between [Derby County] football club, the ladies football club and the Community Trust, ensuring that although we are separate organisations, together we are all one club.”
