Electronics firm moves to new 5,000 sq ft HQ

The Fitology Building

An expanding tech firm has moved into a new headquarters building in Matlock in a deal brokered by BB&J.

Stephen James Technologies has taken a 10-year lease on Fitology House, Smedley Street East, in the Derbyshire town. The 5,000 sq ft building was, until recently, occupied by Balfour Beatty.

Chris Keogh, senior agency Surveyor at BB&J Commercial, said: “When the property became vacant last Christmas following the end of a long-term tenancy, we agreed with the landlord to initially undertake a soft marketing exercise over the festive period ahead of a full marketing campaign in the new year. However, as a result of this approach we were pleasantly surprised by the level of interest and were able to agree terms fairly quickly with SJ Technologies.”

He added: “As part of the tenancy the landlord agreed to commit to the various refurbishment and redecoration works required and therefore we would extend our thanks to AJ Coatings, Carpet Time, Europa Electrics, O Heap & Sons and Steve Bown Plumbing who all delivered an exemplary service and finish. Furthermore, we are grateful for the endeavours of John O’Connor, Fishers Solicitors who acted on behalf of the landlord and Glen McGlenaghan of Lovedays who represented the tenant.”
