On the move: the latest East Midlands hires
Nelsons has added specialist family lawyer, associate and Legal 500 rising star Gareth Protheroe to its family law team in Nottingham.
Protheroe, who specialises in child proceedings, is one of the few Nottingham-based members of the Law Society’s Children Law Accreditation Scheme, meaning he can represent children, as well as parents and other kinship carers, in the most complex cases.
Protheroe first joined Nelsons’ Derby office in 2016.
He said: “I am delighted to now be working with the family team in Nottingham. I am working with a highly motivated team of leading individuals where we each have our own specialisms working across childrens’ and family cases doing our best for the client. I am proud to be part of this team and look forward to fresh challenges in Nottingham.”
Elsewhere, brushware and homeware specialist Charles Bentley & Son has bolstered its senior management team with the appointment of a new sales director.
Steve Law brings a wealth of home and garden experience to the Loughborough-based firm, having previously worked for Irwin Tools, HallsBeeline Stanley, Hamilton Acorn, Fiskars and Amefa.
Charles Bentley, managing director at Charles Bentley & Son, said: “The creation of this new role will give the business a renewed drive and focus on delivering the best service to our trade partners and our loyal consumers.
“As a business, we have been redefining ourselves since 1860 and are now a sixth-generation family business. This longevity only happens by adapting to market conditions and consumer trends, and by understanding how shoppers navigate the decision-making process while engaging and interacting with brands.
“Ensuring that the business continues its evolution will be key to our continued success and we’re delighted to have Steve as part of the team driving us forward.”
The 159-year-old company currently employs 145 people.
