Game-changing mixed use development moves to next stage

An £800 million mixed use development near Clifton which could create over 2,000 jobs is set to move to the next stage.

The Fairham development, which includes £100 million of new infrastructure improvements and 3,000 new homes, was granted outline planning permission by Rushcliffe Borough Council in May.

The local community is now being invited to view details of the infrastructure proposals at a public exhibition.

The initial phase will include improvement and access works to Nottingham Road, works to Mill Hill roundabout and new access to and from the Clifton South park and ride site.

New pedestrian and cyclist crossing points and new road infrastructure will also be created within the development area itself.

The new sustainable neighbourhood is being developed by Derbyshire-based CWC Group in partnership with Homes England.

Subject to planning approval, work is expected to start on site next year.

CWC Group land and planning director Robert Hepwood said: “This is the most important development in the East Midlands and we would like local residents and businesses to find out more about the first phase of infrastructure development.

“We want to encourage as many local people as possible to drop in to our exhibitions to view our plans for Fairham. With more than 2,000 new jobs and up to 3,000 new homes in a sustainable and strategic location, just minutes from Nottingham city centre, Fairham will be the ideal location where people can live, work and flourish.

“In order to achieve this vision we need the right infrastructure in place to support it, which is why we are planning to complete this crucial work ahead of the rest of the development. Our aim is to deliver a high quality scheme that will enhance the region and create a sustainable new neighbourhood for Nottingham.”

Exhibitions will be held at Barton in Fabis Village Hall and Gotham Memorial Hall on Friday 8, Saturday 9 and Friday 15 November.
