East Midlands Leadership Awards – winners revealed

The chief executive of Nottinghamshire YMCA has walked away with the top prize at the inaugural East Midlands Leadership Awards, held yesterday afternoon (6 November) at the Crowne Plaza in Nottingham.

In front of an audience of around 150 peers, Will Wakefield was a double winner, triumphing in the Public and Third Sector Leader category before being crowned overall Leader of the Year.

Sam Metcalf, Midlands editor at TheBusinessDesk.com, said: “Firstly, congratulations to Will and all our winners.

“Our judges had such a tough job picking the winners, that we created an extra category – the Judges’ Commendation Award, to split the victor in one particular category. But every single person shortlisted today should be very proud of their leadership skills – congratulations to you all.

“I’d like to extend a special thanks to our judges who gave up substantial amounts of their time to help with picking today’s shortlist and winners – and, of course, our sponsors without whom this event wouldn’t have happened.”

The audience also heard from Helen Wathall of Wathall’s funeral directors, who was the winner of this year’s Ambassador of the Year at the East Midlands Business Masters, held in March.
