Former high-end furniture store could be turned into KFC

How the new KFC could look

A former Habitat furniture store in Nottingham city centre could be turned into a KFC if plans are passed by Nottingham City Council.

Plans drawn up would see part of the long-derelict Grade II listed unit on Long Row in Nottingham turned into a 50-cover fast food restaurant and takeaway that would create some 20 jobs.

A planning statement with the application reads: “Since the building was vacated by the previous retail tenant several years ago it has stood empty and vulnerable to deterioration. Due to the low demand for retail units of this size in the city centre it is now proposed to subdivide the premises into two separate units.”

Habitat was placed into liquidation in 2011. The unit on Long Row has been empty since.
