Plans for 348 flats next to railway station tipped for approval

How the scheme will look

Plans to build 348 flats next to Nottingham Railway Station have been tipped for approval by city council planning chiefs.

The scheme on Queens Street, which we revealed earlier this year, will now go before Nottingham City Council’s Planning Committee next Wednesday (20 November).

Marrons submitted the planning application on behalf of Blocwork, which says it hopes to start work on the scheme next year.

A statement from Blocwork said: “The project is one of the largest in the city and will fill a gap in the urban form providing living spaces, investment and renewal. The project completes the wider regeneration initiative around the station with much needed housing units.

“It is expected once completed the building will be sold to the owner of a Private Rented Sector investment portfolio.

“This site is the first of what we hope will be a portfolio of PRS sites delivered by blocwork.”

The news comes days after separate plans were unveiled for Nottingham city centre which would see a new £100m landmark development featuring a 170-bed hotel, hundreds of new homes and student housing.

Developer MRP has put forward a proposal for a 1.5-acre site in the Canal Quarter, at the junction of London Road and Queen’s Road, which could create and sustain 1,500 jobs.
