Troubled recruiter appoints new auditor

Staffline Group's Nottingham headquarters

Recruitment giant Staffline has appointed a new auditor ahead of the publication of its full year results.

Grant Thornton will replace PwC in the role following a competitive tender process led by the Nottingham-based company’s audit committee. The Big Four firm had been Staffline’s auditor since 2015.

Staffline’s results for the year ending December 2019 are expected to be published in March 2020.

The firm experienced a tough start to the year, posting losses of £7.7 million for the six months to 30 June due to “challenging” trading conditions. It was also forced to delay its 2018 results announcement, which led to a “slowdown in new contract momentum,” and its share price fell by over a fifth.

It remains unclear what the recruiter’s 2019 results will look like, but in September the firm said it was expecting to post profits of around £20 million.
