Green light for 348-bed student scheme

How the scheme will look

Nottingham City Council’s planning committee has given the green light to a major student accommodation scheme which will be built next to the city’s railway station.

At a meeting on Wednesday afternoon (20 November), councillors voted through plans for a 348-bed scheme submitted by Marrons on behalf of Blocwork, a joint venture between developer Bloc Group and landowner Network Rail, which says it hopes to start work on the scheme next year.

It is expected once completed the building will be sold to the owner of a Private Rented Sector investment portfolio.

A spokesperson for Bloc told TheBusinessDesk.com said the joint venture is unable to comment under purdah laws as it is 50% owned by Network Rail.
