Property consultancy snaps up Burton rival

A group of partners at commercial property firm BB&J Commercial have acquired the Burton-based consultancy Rushton Hickman.

Rushton Hickman will continue to trade under its present name, but directors Paul Rushton and Richard Fairey will now be joined by Mark Richardson, Graham Bancroft and Chris Birds from BB&J, who will look to expand the company’s services across the Midlands.

The business was originally established in 1994 to handle letting and sales of both commercial and residential property, but most recently it has focused solely on commercial property consultancy services.

Bancroft said: “We share many synergies with Rushton Hickman with excellent reputations for providing a high-quality commercial property consultancy services in our respective areas.

“The acquisition of the business was a natural progression for us as we were keen to build on their established commercial agency and property management offering and other services. We are now looking to roll this out over a wider area to both existing and new clients.”

Rushton added: “The acquisition by the partners of BB&J Commercial and the additional expertise that the directors there is good news both for Rushton Hickman and the commercial property market across East Staffordshire, North Leicestershire and South Derbyshire.

“We therefore welcome this acquisition and look forward to working with Graham, Mark and Chris to continue to be at the heart of the commercial property profession in this area.”
