University reveals plans for 280-bed accommodation scheme

How the new building will look

The University of Nottingham has unveiled plans to build a 280-bedroom student accommodation block at its Jubilee campus.

The scheme, named after Greek god Xenia, will be built on land next to Southwell Hall and will be designed by Maber architects.

Around 1,100 staff are based on Jubilee Campus and some 8,500 either full- or part-time students.

Until 2017 the site was occupied by warehouses and landing bays as part of John Player & Sons Triumph Road Stores. The haulage depot was absorbed in the the Raleigh Industries factory complex which operated until the mid-1990s when the section to the West of Triumph Road was demolished to make way for the Jubilee Campus.

Xenia will be the University’s first undergraduate self-catered halls of residence.
