Celebrated indie restaurant and takeaway Rikshaw Urban Indian Kitchen is set to open a 100-seat Nottingham city centre venue.

The new restaurant will be in the former Peppers hairdressing salon in Trinity Square and will add to the original venue in the Sherwood area of Nottingham. A third is set to be opened later this year in an as-yet-unnamed location.

The deal was brokered by FHP Property Consultants.

Shani Shafiq from Riskhaw Urban Indian Kitchen said: “We are delighted to have secured this beautiful property in the heart of Trinity Square, opposite The Cornerhouse in Nottingham city centre. Thanks to Jack Shakespeare at FHP who helped us secure the location.

“We are now ready to bring our award winning food to the city centre.

“Our menu will be hugely exciting and innovative, be prepared to tuck into our tasty authentic street food and see the magic happening fresh off the live grill. Freshly made salad bowls, Toasted Bombay sandwiches, Famous Dum Biryani and Homestyle Curries inspired by the Tuk-Tuk drivers in Delhi and Mumbai.”

Jack Shakespeare from FHP’s Retail & Leisure team, said: “The changing face of the High Street is apparent everywhere and we continue to see entrepreneurial individuals taking opportunities to grow existing and new businesses.

“Rikshaw Kitchen is serving some of the best Indian food around, it is great to see that they have continued to refine and develop their concept and expand into the city centre.

“This is more positive news for the city and a fantastic result for our Landlord client where our strategic advice ultimately allowed us to appeal to a broader range of occupiers and drive rental income significantly.”
