Fit-out firm awarded multimillion pound ‘super boutique’ hotel contract

The Londoner

A Leicester-based interior fit-out company has been awarded a multimillion pound contract to work on a unique “super boutique” hotel in London.

The contract to provide a full fit-out at the The Londoner in Leicester Square is the biggest in EE Smith Contracts’ 123-year history.

The £300 million 5-star hotel is due to open later this year. It will include 350 guest rooms, a variety of restaurants and lounges, a spa, a two-screen cinema and a 1000-capacity ballroom.

The 16-storey building, known as the “iceberg hotel,” spans six levels below ground, making it the deepest habitable basement in London.

EE Smith, which has worked on a string of top international hotels in London including The Langham and The Savoy, was awarded the contract by Edwardian Hotels London.

Neil Bottrill, managing director at EE Smith Contracts, said: “This is a milestone project for EE Smith and we are very excited to work on such a large-scale development in the heart of London’s West End.

“It is our biggest ever contract win and is leading an expansion in our capacity like never before.

“With cutting edge design by Yabu Pushelberg combined with Woods Bagot quality architecture, the interiors are beautifully unique, making us even more thrilled to be part of this iconic project.

“Our design development and production team are essential to the success of the manufacture of the unusual, cutting-edge concepts across the building, and we are now working around the clock to bring this innovative and diverse space to life.

“The Londoner Hotel will be an exciting project unveil for all parties involved and we hope all guests are overwhelmed by the quality and craftsmanship shown throughout the hotel, and look forward to its opening later this year.”
