Fancy dress retailer enters administration

A fancy dress retailer with major outlets in Derby and Nottingham has entered administration putting 70 jobs at risk.

Luvyababes is headquartered in Manchester and has four outlets including at intu Victoria Centre in Nottingham and intu Derby.

It was founded on February 5, 2009, and its two directors are listed as Amanda and David Paul Williams.

According to the firm’s last accounts, filed at Companies House, for the year to March 31, 2019, the average number of employees for Luvyababes was 73, compared with 80 the previous year.

The company’s website stated: “We pride ourselves on having the best choice of fancy dress on the high street and stock brands including Smiffys, Wicked Costumes, Rubies Masquerade, Funshack, Henbrandt and Widman.

“Popular licensed costumes that we stock include Batman, Star Wars, Superman, Where’s Wally, Sesame Street, with many more being added constantly.”

However, the London Gazette published details confirming that administrators, understood to be Leonard Curtis, were appointed to the business on January 22.

No-one from Luvyababes or Leonard Curtis was available for comment.
