Huge expansion for Notts engineering firm

Neil Gouldby of Aero Fabrications with Barclays' Nottinghamshire relationship director James Rutter

A Nottinghamshire-based engineering firm has expanded into newly-built premises after receiving a funding injection from Barclays.

Aero Fabrications, which manufactures aircraft wing components for the Airbus A320 and A350 amongst others, has moved into a 96,000 sq ft site in Watnall adjacent to its existing premises.

Working alongside Winvic Construction, Aero Fabrications’ owner Neil Gouldby oversaw the management of the £6 million-plus new build, which took 8 months to complete.

He said: “I am very proud of how far the business has come, and like many businesses we have had to weather the storms when industry conditions have dictated. It has always been my desire to stay within the Watnall/Hucknall area and I am delighted with the finished building. It was important to us to create something aesthetically pleasing to the environment and surrounding community, and hopefully we have achieved that.”

The firm says its new site will help it to improve manufacturing efficiencies by bringing various outsourced processes back in-house.

Keith Ross, Barclays’ area director for the East Midlands, said: “We are delighted to add Aero Fabrications to our continually expanding portfolio of manufacturing business in the East Midlands. Their growth is a real success story for the area, providing skilled jobs for the local economy and helping to retain and reinforce Hucknall’s longstanding heritage in the aerospace sector. The new premises are a strong statement of intent by the company and we look forward to supporting their growth aspirations.”
