Jobs lost as West Bridgford bar to close less than three months after launch

A West Bridgford bar which only opened in November is to close with staff losing their jobs.

Junkyard Bar and Kitchen, which also has a site in Nottingham city centre, will close this Sunday (9 February) after owners said they couldn’t make the site work.

In a statement, owners said: “We are sad to announce that we will be closing our site on Trent Boulevard in Lady Bay.

“The bottom line is that we have not been able to turnover enough to make the business profitable and we feel we are better placed directing our energies into our city centre sites in these challenging times.

“We really love the premises and found Lady Bay a wonderful community to be part of. It is a very sad occasion for us all and making this decision was not taken lightly. Some of our amazing staff will sadly lose their jobs and there will be lesss business for the local supplier and services that we supported and championed.”

Junkyard opened its second venue in the Lady Bay area of West Bridgford last November after the former Holy Calzone restaurant – which had been run by the same owners – closed, after it had “simply not performed.”

Following a refurb, the owners had opened the second Junkyard venue in a renovated church.

Box Property has been instructed to market the building to other operators.
