Plans revealed for new magic and illusion bar and theatre

Plans have been revealed to turn a Nottingham city centre building into a bar and performance theatre that would host magic shows.

A company called The Illusionist wants to open the venue at 5 George Street in the Hockley area of Nottingham city centre in what the company says will be a UK-first and a “go-to” establishment for magic and illusion.

The theatre space would have a capacity of 100, while a “close-up magic room” could hold a further 40 people. The bar will have fully-trained cocktail bartenders.

Meanwhile, a hidden room would be opened up on busy nights to ease congestion.

A statement from The Illusionist said: “Being situated in the heart of England, the venue will have access to all of the best illusionists and magicians in the country. Because of these uniquely key facts, the venue can quickly build a strong reputation extending beyond Nottingham to the rest of the UK, but will also provide a real ‘talking point’ for what is on offer in terms of the Nottingham cultural and entertainment offer.”
