A5 closed in Leicestershire due to HGV bridge crash

The A5 in Leicestershire is closed both ways between the A47 near Hinckley and the M69 J1 due to a collision involving an HGV which has struck a railway bridge.

Police and Highways England contractors are at the scene offering assistance and assessing potential damage to the bridge structure.

Highways England has created a diversion, with Northbound traffic being diverted via the solid black square diversion symbol:

Exit the A5 northbound at the junction with the M69 J1 and take the first exit at the roundabout onto the B4109 Hinckley Road southbound until the junction with the B4114 (Lutterworth Road).

Turn right, and head northbound passing through Bramcote Village, until the roundabout with the A4254 (Highfield Road).

Take the third exit onto the A4254 Eastboro Way and continue until the junction with the A47. Join the A47 and then continue to rejoin the A5 northbound at Longshoot Junction.

Southbound drivers are advised to follow the route in reverse following the black circle symbol.

Allowing extra time to complete your journey is recommended.
