Housebuilding veteran comes home

Adrian Smith

Persimmon Homes Nottingham has appointed industry veteran Adrian Smith as its new construction director.

The Nottingham native is returning to his roots after spending 11 years as Persimmon’s Midlands construction director. He will oversee all of the company’s building projects across the region.

After starting his career as a joiner, the 51-year-old has racked up more than 26 years of industry experience. He joined Barratt Homes Nottingham in the 1990s, progressing through the ranks from assistant site manager to construction director before making the move to Persimmon.

Smith has spent the last 15 years of his career travelling to Northampton, but has now decided to return home.

He said: “I feel very fortunate to be now working closer to home, but I am not really an office man – I much prefer to be out on site seeing the build quality for myself and speaking to the team, so I am still travelling, but much shorter distances now.

“Having been a construction director for many years, I have a good understanding of what is expected of me and I am working on sharing my experience with the team.  A new job will always bring new challenges, but the principles remain the same – quality and care – and this is my focus.”

Neil Follows, managing director at Persimmon Homes Nottingham, added: “We are very pleased to welcome Adrian to our team.  His hands-on approach and years of expertise is a huge asset to my team.”

Persimmon Homes is currently working on 11 developments across Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire.
