Forest staff given coronavirus all-clear following Marinakis scare

How the new Peter Taylor stand could look

Following the news that Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis has tested positive for COVID-19, the Club has announced that its players, staff and officers are 100 per cent clear of the virus.

In a statement published on his Instagram account yesterday (10 March), Marinakis said the coronavirus had “visited” him and that he “felt obliged to let the public know.”

The revelation caused a degree of consternation given Marinakis’ appearance at Forest’s game against Milwall last Friday, but the Club’s latest announcement will go a long way to allay any lingering fears that staff, players or fans could be at risk.

The Club said it arranged tests for the entire first-team and any staff and officers that came into contact with the owner last week “within hours” of receiving the news.

In a statement, Forest said it will “remain in close dialogue with the relevant governing bodies and football authorities to ensure the correct measures are taken.”

As reported by TheBusinessDesk.com, new accounts published last week revealed that the Club’s losses widened to £25.1 million last year thanks to soaring administrative costs and a big increase in players’ wages.
