CEO steps down at Leicestershire CCC

Departing CEO Karen Rothery was "instrumental in re-shaping the foundations" of the Club

The CEO of Leicestershire County Cricket Club has stepped down with immediate effect.

A statement on the Club’s website said Karen Rothery, who joined the Club in January 2019, was part of a team which was “instrumental in re-shaping the foundations of Leicestershire CCC” over the last year.

It is unclear why Rothery and the Club have agreed to part ways.

LCCC chair Mehmooda Duke said: “We would like to thank Karen for her contribution to Leicestershire CCC over the past year. We wish her well with the next stage of her career.”

She added: “As we approach the new season and the next chapter in the re-building of our great club, there are more, hugely significant steps we need to take. With the help of head coach Paul Nixon, his coaches, players and our dedicated staff, together with our local community, our members, supporters and the business community of Leicestershire and Rutland, we now plan to accelerate the growth of the club, to ultimately bring success back to Grace Road.”

The Club said it will look to announce a replacement “shortly.”

The news follows hot on the heels of the Foxes’ full-year results announcement. The Club saw its commercial revenues increase by 5 per cent to £1.47 million but posted an operating loss of £123,000.

Rothery said that while the year had been “challenging” there was “much to be positive about in terms of financial sustainability and viability.”
