City Council names new permanent chief executive

Derby City Council has named its new permanent chief executive.

Paul Simpson has landed the job after being acting chief executive. He has been with the Council since August of last year, having initially joining as strategic director of corporate resources.

He said: “It is of huge personal significance to me that I’ve been appointed as the CEO in the city – there’s something special about being able to do that role in the place in which you were born and raised.

“The lessons we’ll learn from our response to this crisis will ultimately help us to forge better services for our residents, and when we do get back to our new normal, and business as usual resumes, I’m looking forward to working together to make our city thrive.”
