Almost 200 jobs to go at engineering firm, say reports

Almost 200 jobs could go at a Derby engineering firm which supplies Rolls-Royce, according to reports.

Quest Global has told staff in an internal memo that it will have to cut 192 of its 261-strong workforce, according to Derbyshire Live, which says the firm has lost work from Rolls-Royce.

Quest Global is based on the RTC Business Park. The firm operates in 15 countries and employs ovee 12,800 people worldwide.

In the memo seen by Derbyshire Live, Quest’s head of UK delivery Shashi Rao wrote: “As you are aware the Covid-19 pandemic has brought about unprecedented challenges to businesses around the world.

“The aerospace industry has been the hardest hit with aircraft remaining grounded amidst severe travel disruption.

“Quest’s main business in the UK is in support of our large aerospace customers. In particular, the Derby site was set up to support Rolls-Royce’s Civil Aerospace business.

“During the past few weeks Rolls-Royce have notified us that there will be significant workload reductions going into their supply chain.

“This means that several work packages that were earlier identified for Quest have already been cancelled or indefinitely postponed.

“I would like to express sincere regret that we find ourselves in this position and hope that we can work together to find ways to minimise the impact on staff.”
