New tapas restaurant and bar set for Nottingham

12 Low Pavement

Two entrepreneurs are set to open a new tapas restaurant in Nottingham in the former Carluccio’s unit on Low Pavement in the city.

Esculent Restaurant & Cocktail Bar will be run by partners Craig Tyrell and Emily Birkett. The venue will be serving British tapas dishes across 70 covers.

FHP Property Consultants brokered the deal, which sees Esculent take a 15-year lease on the building.

Birkett said: “We love tapas, you get to try all the different dishes, not just one. Craig is a chef in British foods and it is something missing in the market. It is a niche we can tap into.

“As a new restaurant, we want to make sure everything is perfect as much as it can be, and this is adding extra pressure. We want all the staff to feel safe and confident and everyone to feel they can come in and have a nice meal and have that bit of normality.”

Jack Shakespeare, associate director at FHP, said: “It is great to see that despite the challenging conditions, the market place at present still has restauranteurs like Craig and Emily who are looking to capitalise on opportunities like a fully fitted restaurant at 12 Low Pavement.

“We were able to secure a new lease for our client who owns a wide portfolio of restaurant premises and continue to improve and develop the restaurant offering in Nottingham city centre.”
