Covid-19 test manufacturer to create 15 jobs

SureScreen has taken on 15 new staff to cope with the worldwide demand for its Covid-19 rapid testing kits.

The Derbyshire-based company was one of the first to create a ten-minute test which is now being used across the world.

Now it has teamed up with the University of Derby to employ high-calibre students to be involved in the assembly and distribution of the kits before they are sent out to places from Panama to Portugal.

SureScreen’s ten-minute test has received high-level validation from highly respected clinicians from the likes of Guys and St Thomas’s Foundation Trust, Cambridge University and King’s College London.

It is already being used extensively by public and private organisations in more than 30 countries including Germany, Spain and Sweden.

Many private companies are using the test in the UK and it is awaiting final Public Health England approval to be used in the NHS.

Director David Campbell said: “We have orders for millions of kits which need to be shipped out to meet the urgent demand across the world.

“We want to help save lives wherever we can and demand for our products has never been greater.

“Therefore, we are delighted to have been able to give young people the chance to be at the cutting edge of the fight against Covid 19.

“We have worked closely with the University of Derby for many years, and they have always been very helpful in working with us on projects such as the Invest to Grow programme and supporting with graduate recruitment.”
