£5m land deal set to bring forward controversial housing scheme

Bloor Homes has bought a 10-acre site in the Nottinghamshire village of Cropwell Bishop in a £5m deal.

The firm will progress with controversial plans to build 85 homes on the site after Terra Strategic sold the land.

Terra Strategic had been given permission to build the homes on a site used currently used for farming and next to a primary school, after a two-year battle against the scheme from locals, who complained that the number of new homes in the village was “excessive”.

Property and planning consultant Fisher German and AT Architecture also worked on the project.

James O’Shea, managing director of Terra Strategic, said: ““The 85 family homes and bungalows will help to meet Rushcliffe Borough Council’s housing needs, which we identified lacked a sufficient pipeline when first considering this land opportunity. The high-quality scheme that we received outline planning Consent for earlier this year is designed around a central village green area and is very reflective of its rural location.

“Given the shortage of new homes in the current marketplace, we would urge anyone who is looking to maximise their land value to get in touch with us to explore the opportunities available.”
