Record month for flooring company as lockdown eases

Rob Haigh

Forester Flooring Company (FFCo), based in Netherfield, Nottingham, has posted the highest-ever monthly turnover in its 20-year history in June.

FFCo said was it was “heavily restricted” during the lockdown period as most of its suppliers closed their doors. However, as the industry began to open up again in June, the company got to work and by the month end had smashed their previous best month.

The sales quadrupled those of June 2019 and totalled over a third of turnover for the whole of 2019.

Company director Rob Haigh said: “Whilst a portion of our performance in June can be attributed to a bottle-neck of projects we were unable to install during lockdown, that certainly doesn’t tell the whole story. Disregarding April and May during lockdown, our monthly turnover has increased significantly in 2020 compared to 2019. The company’s income in Q1 2020 was more than double that of the same period in 2019 which is really great news for us.”

It had already been a year of changes for the company, with Rob Haigh joining as a director in November 2019 to team up with his parents, Ashley and Marilynn Haigh, who established the company in 2000. Rob walked away from a successful career in the private sector as a chartered surveyor to join his parents in FFCo and establish his own chartered surveying practice: RH Chartered Surveyors.

He added: “As my parents began to consider their semi-retirement, it provided the perfect timing for me to step into the business and implement my plans for the future, under their guidance. Together they have built an enviable reputation over the last two decades from their unwavering commitment to exemplary client service, honest advice and professionalism.

“We have already taken significant steps to improve the reach of the business by establishing the company’s social media channels and designing a brand-new website, which is due to go live in a few weeks.”

FFCo specialises in supplying and installing all types of commercial flooring, from carpet tiles to LVTs, carpets to engineered wood and everything in between, in all types of commercial properties.

Rob said: “Whilst we’re pleased with this result at an early stage of our plans this is only the beginning. We are keen to push ahead by taking on more projects and expanding our network of clients and contacts. By continuing to embody the principles the business has been built on and by utilising my network of contacts from my career in the property industry I am convinced the business has significant potential for growth and our performance YTD in 2020 certainly supports that.”
