On the move: the latest East Midlands hires

Becki Roberts

Cloud accounting professional Becki Roberts has been promoted to senior manager at UHY Hacker Young and will also lead the firm’s UK-wide cloud accounting team from the group’s Nottingham office.

In her new role, Roberts – who joined UHY Nottingham in 2018 – will co-ordinate the team across the firm’s 19 offices and head up delivery of the group’s digital change programme, which regularly meets, both virtually and face to face, to enable national sharing of information.

Roberts said: “I joined UHY as I wanted to help drive the firm’s cloud-based offering forward, so being promoted to head of the National Cloud Group is a special moment in my career. Cloud-based accounting is a really exciting part of what UHY offers currently and it’s a real opportunity for us to help clients improve business efficiency and performance.

“More companies are starting to use the cloud and we’ve certainly seen an increase in interest from clients during the UK-wide lockdown, with thousands of businesses across the region being forced to work from home. Now, more than ever, it’s vital for clients to have up to date information and being able to access this remotely is a real gamechanger. There’s so much uncertainty at the moment so being able to see finances in real time is important when it comes to making pivotal decisions.”

Natalie Gasson

The IoD has unveiled a new leadership team for Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire, with Natalie Gasson appointed as branch chair.

She will be supported by professor Dean Fathers DL, who has been appointed as vice-chair and branch ambassador for diversity and inclusion.

The pair will be the voice of business for Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire, working alongside a branch team to raise the profile of local directors within the IoD’s influential, national policy voice.

Gary Headland, IoD regional chair for the East Midlands, said: “I am absolutely delighted to welcome Natalie and Dean to their respective roles. They both have a wealth of knowledge and experience and are utterly determined to help our members to: connect with one another with a clear business purpose; develop professionally as directors and leaders; and influence local, regional and national policy makers and key stakeholders in order to help their businesses to grow.”
