Funding boost for healthcare firm

A Leicester healthcare company that provides products and technology to the NHS has secured a funding boost as it looks to meet increased demand.

Spirit Healthcare is part of Spirit Health Group with three divisions, including medicines optimisation, clinical services and digital, all focused on improving healthcare solutions for customers in the UK and worldwide.

Its digital health product ‘CliniTouch Vie’, is supplied to hospitals, GPs, CCG’s and specialised nursing teams to monitor patients effectively from their homes.

The technology is used to monitor people with long term conditions including those with respiratory and heart conditions, or diabetes. The system has also recently been adopted by hospitals to monitor those discharged from hospital, including Covid-19 patients.

The finance facility from HSBC UK through the Coronavirus Business Interruption Loan Scheme (CBILS) will support the business’s cash flow and operational mobilisation as it looks to embed the technology into NHS providers.

Alongside CBILS funding, the company has also benefited from an increased overdraft and trade limits from HSBC UK.

Chris Barker, CEO of Spirit Health Group, said: “Over the past few months we’ve seen a huge advance in the adoption of digital health technology across the health sector. We are now supporting thousands of patients and are expecting this number to keep growing. The additional support from HSBC UK has enabled us to meet this increased demand, provide more monitoring technology to the NHS and people with long term conditions, and given us the opportunity to accelerate the development of new features for the sector.”

Richard Parker, HSBC UK relationship director East Midlands Corporate Banking, added: “We were pleased to be able to provide funding and an increased facility to the team at Spirit Healthcare, who are providing such an important role in supporting healthcare professionals and their patients at this critical time.”
