Nottinghamshire eco-home up for sale for £2.25m

An award-winning Nottinghamshire home overlooking the Vale of Belvoir has is up for sale for £2.25m.

Belvoir Vue in Granby, a contemporary ‘Grand Designs’- style property situated within grounds of almost four acres, was awarded East Midlands Project of the Year by architectural events hosts Specifi in 2019.

The property’s steel frame design allows for large open spans within the property and areas of glazing to deliver solar gain in winter, while its canopies provide solar shading during the summer months. Beam and block floors have enabled underfloor heating and screed throughout, coupled with increased 150mm cavity wall, and 250mm roof insulation, provides thermal mass for a constant temperature. Each room is independently controlled both in the room and via a smartphone.

Furthermore the property is not connected to the gas network. Air source heat pumps were chosen for hot water and heating, and provides a very efficient solution with a solar panel system that is discreetly hidden behind the roof parapet. This heating system is enhanced by a low energy (21kw) wood burner in the lounge.

The building itself is served by an active onsite sewage treatment system. A 6,000 litre rainwater storage tank has been incorporated and feeds grey water to two external taps. Excess water from both systems feed into a pond and then off into the local water course.

The property is being marketed by Savills.

Ian Marriott, Savills joint head of residential sales in Nottingham, said: “It is easy to see why this property received the architectural accolade it did. There is a real drive towards homes of the future being sustainable and eco-friendly, and Belvoir Vue delivers this in an incredibly stylish and sympathetic way. The views of the surrounding countryside from the balcony are simply stunning and continue as far as the eye can see.”
