Water treatment firm signs 7-year deal to stay in Derby

A leading water and wastewater solution providers is demonstrating its commitment to Derby by extending its lease in the city.

MWH Treatment Midlands has committed to a further seven years at its Midlands regional office at Nurton Development’s Cardinal Square, which it relocated to in November 2018 acquiring 2,719 sq ft.

Cardinal Square is a five-storey, landmark building positioned on Derby’s Ring Road and the A52 which is home to a number of high-profile occupiers including NHS Property Services, Freeths Solicitors, IT specialists Node4, Bulkhead and Xpertise Recruitment.

Speaking about MWH Treatment’s commitment to Cardinal Square, Paul Hodgson, programme manager said: “We have been very impressed with the quality of the office accommodation and facilities available at Cardinal Square, along with its excellent location close to the city centre and Derby’s principal road links.

“With our successful appointment to a five-year capital delivery framework for Severn Trent, we were happy to commit our long-term future to working at the offices.”

David Dyas, asset manager for Cardinal Square, added: “We’re delighted to be retaining MWH Treatment at Cardinal Square and be supporting their continued success in Derby.

“I’m pleased to say that despite the pandemic we are continuing to maintain our existing occupier list and add to it, with another letting to be announced shortly. This bodes well for Cardinal Square and Derby and provides positive signs of business resilience in the region.”

The 113,000 sq ft building underwent a major investment programme in 2019 to create high quality office space, services and facilities, which has resulted in number of letting transactions. Further investment is planned in the coming months.
