300 people tested positive for Covid-19 at food factory

Some 300 people have tested positive for Covid-19 at an East Midlands food factory.

The factory, run by multinational Greencore, makes sandwiches for Marks & Spencer and employs 2,100 poeple.

Greencore said it has deployed contact tracing on each of the workers.

Lucy Wightman, director of public health at Northamptonshire County Council, told the BBC that the workers are self-isolating.

She added: “The outbreak is about how people behave outside of Greencore, not at work,” adding if people failed to follow the rules “a possible local lockdown will follow”.
