Online retailer takes 30,000 sq ft in Market Harborough

An online retailer has taken 30,000 sq ft of warehouse space at Airfield Business Park in Market Harborough.

Thrift + has moved into Units G1 and G2 in a deal brokered by Budworth Hardcastle and APB (Leicester) on behalf of Leicestershire County Council.

Thrift + is an online retailer which says it wants to be “the single best destination to shop for high quality second-hand clothing”. Via its website, customers apply for a free Thrift Bag which is then filled with the clothes they wish to donate and sent back to the warehouse. The clothes then pass through quality control and once approved are uploaded to the website. Once sold 33% of every sale is donated to a specific charity of the customer’s choice.

Amanda Lawrence of Budworth Hardcastle said: “This is a significant letting for Airfield Business Park being the largest units in the scheme. All parties worked hard to agree and complete the letting within eight weeks and we are delighted to welcome Thrift + to the business park.”

Reg Pollock of APB (Leicester) said: “Airfield Business Park has been a resounding success and shows that Leicestershire County Council have put the needs of occupiers first by speculatively developing the units. The scheme totals over 80,000 sq of industrial/warehouse space in Phase 1.”

Councillor Byron Rhodes, Leicestershire County Council cabinet member for finance and resources, said: “Supporting businesses is important, particularly in the current climate, as it helps boost our local economy and creates jobs.
“Thrift+ is playing a part in tackling climate change, which is one of our top priorities. The move proves how attractive the county is as a place to not only work, but live, invest and socialise.”
